Chapter Eight

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Mia asked her best friend, Hailey.

"I rushed down here when I heard that douchebag broke up with you. I had envisioned you to be in your worst state but you seem okay and I don't know if I should be concerned." 

"Chris meant the world to you. You even loved him more than you love me, your best friend. You would sacrifice anything for him in a heartbeat!" 

Mia took two scoops of her vanilla ice cream before responding to Hailey who was seated beside her. "You should have seen me yesterday after the breakup. With the way I was crying, you would have thought my loved one just died. Last night, I was fortunate to have come across someone who made me realize I deserve better than Chris."
