Calista was sitting in a chair inside her campus library. She furrowed her brows in thought while stroking her lips with her finger. Her brain was busy thinking about what happened last night.
“Did I dream last night? If it was a dream, why did everything feel so real? I can feel his touch and smell his scent. I can even feel the coldness of his body,” she said in her mind.“Calista...”
She woke up from her thoughts and immediately looked in the direction the voice came from and she saw Alice sitting beside her, looking at her with a sad, worried face.“Alice, what happened? Why you look sad?” she asked worriedly.Alice held her hand and looked back into her eyes. “I have bad news. It’s about Stefan. He just called me. He said some men have ruined his cafe last night.”It shocked Calista to hear what she said. “Oh, my God! How did it happen? And Stefan, is he all right?”“Don’t worry, he’s fine,” Alice said, “Let’s go, we better go see him now.”
Calista nodded anxiously. They immediately stood up from their chairs and left the place.
As soon as they arrived at the cafe where they worked, they immediately went inside. They both shocked to see broken glass windows and also broken chairs and tables.Stefan was sitting alone, looking at them with a sad face. They immediately walked over and sat beside him.
“Sir, how did this place become like this? Who did this?” Calista asked.Stefan sighed. “Last night, the men who harassed you came back with their friends. They wanted to see you. I told them you didn’t come to work, but they didn’t believe me. They were looking for you all over this place, and they get furious and ruined everything when they couldn’t find you. They also threatened me. They said if I reported them to the police, they would do worse than this.”
Calista stared at him with her mouth closed as her heart beat fast in sadness and worry.
“Those men are truly bastards! How could they do that! I really hate them!” Alice said.Stefan looked Calista in the eye as he hesitated to speak to her and finally he said, “Calista, as you can see. I can no longer let you work in this place. I don’t want to do this, but I have to. I really have no choice. I hope you can understand my situation.”
Alice became angry. “But sir —”
Calista immediately held her hand to calm her down. She tried to smile at Alice, who was looking at her with her sad eyes.
Calista then looked into Stefan's eyes. “It’s all right, sir. I understand. I’m so sorry for causing you trouble. All this time, you’ve been so kind to me. I’ll never forget that,” she said gratefully.“I’m so sorry. Please forgive me,” he said, holding back his tears.
Calista nodded at him with a smile. She tried to reassure him she was fine. He couldn't bear to look her in the eyes. He then looked down while shedding tears.
Alice also had tears in her eyes, staring at Calista's face.
Calista tried not to cry. She pretended to be strong. She didn't want them to know that her heart was crying right now.******Calista had arrived in front of her house and went inside. She came home by bus. Alice couldn't take her home because she had to work at the cafe.Amber and her aunt haven't come home yet. Calista then walked into her room, didn't turn on the light, and sat on her bed. Sadness and worry gripped her at the same time. She tried to stay strong, but she couldn't.“Mom, Dad, I really miss you both. I wish you were here with me,” she said and she cried silently.******The next morning, Calista didn't go to campus because she wanted to find a job. She was sitting at the bus stop when her cell phone suddenly rang. An unknown number called her.“Hello, who is this?” she answered the call.“Good morning, Miss Callista. My name is Claire Brown. Are you looking for a job? Our boss is looking for someone to take care of his library. Do you want to take this job?” A woman’s pleasant voice said.
Calista was surprised and so happy to hear that. “Yes! Of course! I want to. I really want to work in the library.”
“All right, then. Stay there. I’ll pick you up,” Claire said hastily.
“What? Pick me up? But, how do you — Hello?” Calista asked in confusion.
Claire didn't answer her question because she had hung up on her phone. Calista wanted to call her back, but before she did, a black luxury sedan parked in front of her.
A middle-aged woman with short brown hair in a black suit came out from the rear door of the car and stood beside the car. She looks friendly and graceful.
Claire smiled kindly at Calista. “Miss Callista, please come with me. I’ll take you to my boss’s place,” she said politely.
Calista couldn't open her mouth to speak, staring at her without blinking. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.
Claire smiled again and said, pointing her hand into the open rear door of the car, “Miss Callista, get in, please.”Her voice woke Calista from her shock. “Y-yes,” she said. She then stood up from her seat and got into the car with Claire leaving this place.
Calista stared inside the car with admiration. She had never been in a car this fancy before. She woke up from her admiration as she turned her head to Claire, who was staring at her without blinking.“Miss Calista, you are so beautiful,” Claire said.Calista smiled with her cheeks blushing. “Thank you and please just call me by name,” she said.Claire smiled at her as she kept staring at her face. Calista wanted to ask her how she knew she was looking for a job and she even knew she was at the bus stop but before she did, Claire suddenly said seriously to herself, “All right then! Back to work!”She then opened a black briefcase that was on her lap and took out the agreement paper and pen and looked into Calista’s eyes. “Calista, you will work at my boss’s house. You will receive a salary of $ 60,000 for a year. Your work hours start from 6 p.m. until 12 midnight. You’re free on Sundays. And you will start work today,” Claire
“Calista, this is your room,” Claire said, smiling.Calista stared at this room in admiration. She liked it so much. This room is so beautiful, it looks like a princess room. The room is spacious and painted white. A fine white carpet covered the floor of the room like snow. Everything in this room is beautiful and luxurious in classic style. She could see the front yard filled with white roses from the large glass window of the room. It stunned her when she saw the bathroom in the room; it was so luxurious and three times the size of her bedroom. “Do you like this room?” Claire asked. “Yes, I love it so much. This room is so beautiful. I’ve never slept in a room this beautiful before,” Calista said.Claire smiled pleasantly upon hearing what she said. She then, pointing to the luxurious white wardrobe in the room, said, “You can wear everything in the wardrobe. It’s all yours.” She suddenly spoke seriously, staring Calista in
Calista immediately got up from the sofa as Vladimir walked over and stood before her.“Vladimir? Why are you here?” she asked. She felt both nervous and curious.“I’m here to read a book,” he said. Her eyes keep on his eyes while my brain is busy thinking. “Wait! If you’re here to read a book, then you are ... my boss?!” she asked in surprise. He smiled gently at her, hearing what she said. She couldn't believe what was happening as she asked herself why he could be her boss. Her mind went blank, making her speak without thinking. “Please have a seat.” She suddenly bit her lip and said nervously, “Or not.” She just remembered that this was his house and the one who should have said those words was him, not her.“Thank you, Calista,” he said teasingly and gave her a smile. She avoided his eyes with her cheeks burning in embarrassment. He then sat on the sofa, crossing his legs. He put his index finger on his lips while gazing at her
“Thank you for being with me tonight. I had a wonderful time with you,” Vladimir said into Calista’s eyes when they stood at the door of her room. “I should be the one who says thank you. You are very kind to me. You gave me a job and allowed me to stay in such a beautiful place. I’m so happy. I never thought something like this would happen in my life,” she said gratefully. He smiled gently at her, as she could see her happiness in his eyes. They stared at each other warmly for a moment and then he said in his soft voice, “I’ll see you again tomorrow. I bid you goodnight.” He then put his left hand behind his back, brought his right hand to his waist, and bowed politely to her. It stunned her to see him like that. Never had a man treated her as polite as him before. She really loved the way he treated her.He wanted to leave her but before he left she immediately said, “Please wait!” He looked into her eyes and waited for what she would say to
The sound of the singing birds woke Calista from her sleep. She opened her eyes and saw sunlight coming in through the window. She sat up and leaned her back against the head of the bed. She bit her lip as she felt a slight pain around her entrance. She wonders what had happened to her and why does her body feel this weak. She feels like she had a dream last night, but she can’t remember what she was dreaming and the last thing she remembers is when Vladimir took her to her room and then she went to sleep. It surprised her when she looked at the clock. It’s seven in the morning. She immediately got out of bed, took a shower to get ready for the campus. ****** Calista came out of her room and immediately descended the stairs. She was curious when she set foot on the first floor; it was so quiet no one was there. She didn’t see the butler and the maids who were there last night, as if they had all disappeared. Her mind then told her she
“Miss Calista, would you like to stop by your house before we return to the mansion?” Sebastian asked as he drove the car. “Tomorrow is Sunday, so I don’t have to take my things today. But if you don’t mind, I’d like to stop by the food shop. Claire said I could use the kitchen in the mansion and I wanted to cook. And please don't call me miss, just call me by name,” she said and smiled friendly to him staring in the rearview mirror. She’s so happy to be working in the library and she wants to make chocolate cookies for Vladimir, Claire, and Sebastian to thank them.Sebastian smiled back with a warm smile on his face. He liked her kind and friendly nature. Suddenly, his face turned sad because he knew what would happen to this beautiful, innocent girl. ****** The sun had set when Vladimir was in the dungeon chamber of his mansion. It was creepy, cold, dark, and smelled of blood. The dim light from the torch on the wall illuminated Vladi
She opened her eyes when she heard his soft laugh as he moved his lips away from hers. “Please don’t show me that face. You make me want to tease you even more,” he said into her, smiling teasingly. She fell silent, breathing nervously, trying to calm her rapid heartbeat. Now she knew he was teasing her, deliberately frightening her. As her fear disappeared, sadness filled her heart. She felt sad that he didn't kiss her.His eyes turned soft, staring into her eyes with his gentle gaze, as he knew what she felt and wanted. He then slipped his hand gently behind her neck and brought his lips closer to hers. She immediately held back his chest with her hand before their lips touched. “Please, stop teasing me,” she said into his eyes. She thought that he was teasing her again. He smiled devilishly at her. “Nothing can stop me. I always get what I want,” he said in a deep whisper. She gasped as he pulled her closer and kissed her lips in a passionate
Calista couldn't sleep even though it was past midnight. She was sitting on her bed, leaning her back against the headboard. She smiled with her heart beats happily, thinking of Vladimir. She never thought that he would fall in love with her. It was like a beautiful dream come true.Everything that happened between them happened so fast. She just met him and he already has her heart. But somehow she can feel that her heart has been waiting for him for thousands of years. Her eyes suddenly opened wide as she remembered something. “My cookies! I left them in the library.” She patted her head as she sighed in an upset. “Why am I so silly? I shouldn’t forget to give them to him! He must be sleeping by now.”****** Calista thought that Vladimir was asleep. She didn't know that he never slept at night. He was now sitting on the sofa in his room, staring at the small box wrapped in a white ribbon in his hands. Inside the box were the chocolate cookies Callista
