Thursday passed. It was a long day for me because I had school and work. I called Brandt just before I got to work as usual but, very unusually, he didn't answer. I dived right into my job and didn't have time to think too much about it. After work, I called him again. That time he did answer but he blew me off. At least that's how it felt. He was very short, explaining that he couldn't talk. After all the attention he had lavished upon me up to this point, I had a hard time not feeling hurt. When he texted later that night, around 11 p.m, I feigned sleep, if only to myself. Yes, it was petty, but I followed his rules and was still being ignored? Nope, I would ignore him too.

The next day being Friday, I got up early, made my lunch, then left for my early shift.
