The doors opened and I stepped forward with my father as everyone applauded. My father then welcomed everyone and mentioned his plans for me to dance with whomever I am taken with before we descended the steps and took our seats, fathers at his throne and mine beside him.
I couldn't help but let my eyes wander for the young lady I had seen earlier, I had never seen a lady quite like her. The crowd was overwhelming and the room was hot from all the people so I excused myself out to the garden for some fresh air.
'Christ, Charles, you were barely in there for five minutes and you're already trying to escape' I scorned myself as I was walking.
