“Whatever it is, I’m guessing it’s worse than the mafia,” Zipporah dropped her glass on his desk and closed a gap between them. “Kingsley said you are doing things for my own good and you lie to protect me. And I know that’s what everybody says to each other but how about you stop assuming what’s good for me and you tell me the truth so I can protect myself?”

She sighed when he remained silent, “please. Just for once don’t leave me hanging.”

His body froze to her wistful words then he turned to study her face. When she met his gaze, he gritted his teeth and rubbed the back of his neck.

“She wasn’t trying to kill you.”

Zipporah wasn’t surprised he knew who it was that attacked her despite the fact that she had mentioned the lady in white to no one. “What was she trying to do?”
