Wounded

The sky turned dark with smoke from the fire. Corpses, with burns that had almost consumed their entire bodies, lay on the streets. Leaves and grass that were once green now turned charred black and littered the ground.

This was so bad.

My footsteps stopped. My eyes were fully rounded. Before I could correct my choked breath, my feet had taken a step towards someone who took all my attention.

"Wh-what happened? Oh no! How did you get these wounds?" I panicked as I stared at the burns that covered almost the entire length of Zaire's right shoulder.

"How is this? What do I do with this wound?" I panicked. My hand repeatedly stretched forward and held back. I was overwhelmed with doubt and anxiety even if it was just to help a warrior who was bandaging Zaire's wound.

Zaire continued to frown. An occasional sigh of pain escaped his lips. The sight hurt my heart.

I was only gone for a few minutes, but why had things gotten out of hand?

Zephyr suddenly confronted me. "Why are you here?"
