"So, when is this new assistant, supposed to start?" Logan asked his PA and longtime family friend.
"She will be here at eight." Molly, his PA replied, amusement lurking in her eyes.
Logan frowned, not liking the look she was giving him, Molly and his mother were old friends, having worked for his father and now him.
She had always been respectfully forward, not mincing words, she was one of the few that he or his family truly trusted, so seeing her looking at him with amusement, made his hackles raise, she was up to something, he only wished he knew what?
Having learned from experience, whenever his mother or Molly was being mysterious, it was best to ignore them and not add fuel to their fire.
Shrugging his shoulders, "Just make sure, she knows what she must do, I don't need a blubbering fool, running around here." He stated firmly, getting down to business.
Molly laughed, "Now who is being grouchy?" She queried, raising her eyebrow, staring at her Alpha.
"Not today Molly, I have enough on my mind as it is, please." Logan spoke, his tone firm, yet respectful.
Conceding defeat, Molly began to outline the day's appointments, satisfied that all had been organized, Logan dismissed his PA, with a wave of his hand, thanking her.
Just before Molly left the office, she turned at the door to face him, "You know...I think things are about to look up." She commented, leaving the office, leaving her Alpha to ponder on her words, a secret smile on her face.
She had spoken to Logan's mother and her mate, about the new girl, for some or other reason, she felt a connection with the young woman and she had a feeling that it was going to be a good thing.
That is the reason, why she had hired the young woman on the spot, she wasn't going to miss an opportunity in getting to know why her wolf had become attached to the young girl, even if she was a human.
The Moon Goddess knew what she was doing and Molly wasn't going to defy fate, she was going to accept the task set before her with eagerness and acceptance.
Meanwhile, in his office, Logan leaned back in his chair, his mind going over Molly's parting words, wondering what she was up to, a frown forming on his face.
Growling lowly, he hoped that Molly and his mother, weren't up to something, they always seemed to find a way to meddle in people's live, even though it was good for the person, it was sometimes downright annoying.
Having seen, how his siblings and friends had some way or another been affected by those two.
His father and Molly's mate, would only shake their heads and smile lovingly at their mates, not daring to interfere, when the two got together.
He had better stay alert, where those two are concerned, something told him, that he was their next target.
Especially, after he had told his family and friends, that he was taking a break in searching for his mate and rather focusing on work, which hadn't gone down well with some members, it had taken a lot of convincing, for them to finally relent or he hoped that they had.
He was not in the mood for matchmaking...
Logan had been ensconced in his office for most of the morning, concentrating hard on the paperwork before him, finally deciding to take a break, he threw down his pen, standing up and stretching his cramped muscles. He had forgotten the downside of sitting behind a desk, for long periods.
For Katie, the morning had begun so well, Molly had patiently guided her on the workings and requirements of an assistant. Her nerves had slightly abated, she had yet to meet her boss, according to Molly he was a very busy man, but she would soon meet him, because he never missed lunch. As lunch
Logan watched his mate beneath hooded eyes, it had been over a week that she had stepped into his office, he had spent every possible moment, within her perimeter, without it seeming to be too creepy.Loving the fact, that at first, his mate had seemed so shy, but the more time they spent at the office, the closer and more relaxed she became around him.
It was late in the evening, Katie was at home, gazing out her window, holding a restless Drew in her arms, the weather was just as foul as her mood lately, watching as the sky would light up and then the sound of thunder rumbling in the distance, the rain hitting the window with force. She knew that Drew was in-tuned to her feelings, sensing that all was not well, hence the reason he had been restless, but she could not help on how she was feeling, a lone tear escaping.
The following day, early in the morning, Katie was armed and ready, she had already given her resignation letter to HR, sent an apologetic message to Molly, without stating the true reason for her leaving abruptly, only stating that there was a family emergency, which she needed her undivided attention. And now she was ready to confront the egotistical bastard known as Logan.
"What the hell happened...?" Was the first thing Molly asked, the moment she entered Logan's office.Coming to an abrupt halt, as she stared at a defeat looking young Alpha sitting at his desk.Jace, Logan's best friend and beta, as well as his mate, Nessa, also stood silently next to Molly, hav
Logan stood before Katie's front door, nervously shuffling from one foot to another, taking a look at the neighborhood she lived in, it was a quaint quiet street, with cookie cutter homes, manicured lawns and the sense of community amongst the neighbors. Finally having the courage, he knocked on her door, taking a moment to compose himself, waiting for her to come, he knew she was at home, with his werewolf hearing he could hear the distinct cry of a baby.
Leaving his mate in the room was rather difficult, but Logan knew that he had to restrain himself and be patient, he could not mess this up, she was too important to him.Entering the living room, his gaze automatically landed on Drew, relieved that the little one continued to sleep peacefully.
